My Fixįollowing the repair guide on, I successfully replaced the logic board in a mere 4 hours hehe. Since I already invested so much time and money into it, I was determined to get it up and running to satisfy my ego. Wouldn’t be surprised if Apple charged $200 in labor on top of the $100 battery. My iPad mini had water damage and after replacing the digitizer and lcd, it still was not working despite burying it in rice. If I was doing it again I could probably do it in 10 minutes. The first time took me about 30 minutes because I was trying to figure out a way to not have to do steps 5-53 and remove the logic board and use the solvent. Then I took the packs off with the string. In the guide, all I did was steps 1-4 and 36.

So basically all I had to do was turn the Mac off, take the bottom cover off, unplug the battery, saw through the seals on the back of the battery packs with string, take the plastic off the adhesive pads on the new battery, put the new battery in place, plug it into the logic board, put the bottom cover back on. The adhesive makes a better seal with the steel than it does with the aluminum. The bigger packs take longer because they are attached to the steel plate on the back of the trackpad.

You just insert the string at the top of each battery pack all the way up against the aluminum, and begin sawing/flossing down against the adhesive. I ended up using a thin nylon string to saw through the adhesive. The instructions have you going through all the trouble of taking out the logic board just so you don’t risk getting any adhesive solvent on the components. The hardest part is that the battery packs are attached with an adhesive. I replaced the battery on my late 2013 MBP myself. They have the battery fix kit and an instructional guide.
